    The Significance of Pentecost

Jesus is the dynamic of the Christian life. The day you were saved, He sent His Spirit to live in you. No longer are you to live in the energy of the flesh. As a believer, you are to be led by the Spirit. This is the difference between life under the law, and life in grace.

Most Christians, however, try to live the Christian life like Peter did before Pentecost. They genuinely want to be God’s man or woman and desire to live righteous, upright lives. But they can’t. A legalistic approach to Christianity always ends in failure. Human effort cannot produce godly living.

We need to die to that way of living in order to experience the grace of Jesus Christ and the power of God’s Spirit. Paul put it this way:

For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:19-20

How then should we live? By the grace of God through faith in the Son of God.
