Meet Jeannie Thompson — Author

Jeannie was 34 when she truly received Jesus as her Lord and Savior. This glorious introduction took place at the kitchen table of a dear friend. “At that very moment, the Spirit of Jesus began living in me. Although I sometimes veer from His perfect direction, what a wonderful journey it has been and will continue to be!”
Jeannie has always enjoyed working with children’s ministries. Two of her most treasured opportunities occurred in the 1990’s. At that time, Gerbert, “the loveable puppet with a Christian message”, created by Andy Holmes, was entertaining children on TV and performing before live audiences. While Jeannie and her husband lived in McKinney, TX, she was chosen to play Gerbert’s “Aunt Jeannie” for a third group of Gerbert fans.
Using more than one hundred 5–minute episodes, which Jeannie had written and which she and Gerbert had enacted and recorded, a different story for each day played electronically when children dialed a special phone number.
When Jeannie moved to Carrollton, TX, soon after her husband's death, she attended Bent Tree Bible Fellowship and enjoyed working with their highly–acclaimed puppet ministry. In the year 2000, God set Jeannie on a different course, which she has also enjoyed tremendously. She became receptionist for Basic Gospel where she worked until her retirement in November, 2014. (She still continues to sneak in twice a week to serve as a volunteer!)
Now in her 80’s, Jeannie especially enjoys the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and writing Christian literature for all children. Her grandson, Chris Thompson, a professional artist, provided beautiful illustrations for her latest book, and God said… LET THERE BE DONKEYS! More books are planned for the future.
Jeannie knows that joy and contentment in life come only through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Christ in you, the hope of glory! (Colossians 1:27).
